Aexa Aerospace Launches Post-Quantum Vault Beta to Help Protect Data for the Quantum Era

New browser-based platform uses NIST-standardized post-quantum cryptography to protect files locally, without sending original unencrypted files, private keys, or passphrases to Aexa servers
HOUSTON, Texas, September 7, 2026 , Aexa Aerospace today announced the beta launch of Aexa Post-Quantum Vault, a new file-protection platform designed to help organizations and individuals begin preparing for a future in which large-scale quantum computers may challenge many of today’s widely used public-key cryptographic systems.
Aexa Post-Quantum Vault combines ML-KEM, the Module-Lattice-Based Key-Encapsulation Mechanism standardized by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology under FIPS 203, with AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption for protecting file contents.
The Web Vault performs encryption and decryption locally inside the user’s browser. Aexa servers host the application but do not receive the user’s original unencrypted files, private keys, passphrases, or decrypted output.

Preparing for a Different Security Environment
Much of today’s secure digital infrastructure relies on public-key technologies such as RSA and elliptic-curve cryptography. A sufficiently capable future quantum computer could fundamentally alter the security assumptions behind those systems.
This has created growing concern around the concept of “harvest now, decrypt later,” in which encrypted information is collected today with the expectation that future computing advances may make some of it easier to decrypt.
Aexa Post-Quantum Vault is designed around cryptographic algorithms developed specifically to address currently understood quantum threats.
The beta does not claim to be “quantum proof,” nor can any cryptographic system guarantee security against every future discovery. Instead, Aexa is implementing standardized post-quantum cryptography while building the product around transparency, local processing, and verifiable security controls.
Simple Three-Step Workflow
Aexa designed the beta so users do not need to understand the mathematics behind post-quantum cryptography.
1. Generate Identity
The user creates a private key and a corresponding public key. The private key remains protected by the user, while the public key can be shared with others.
2. Protect a File
A user selects a file and the intended recipient’s public key. The file is encrypted locally in the browser using ML-KEM-based key establishment and AES-256-GCM.
3. Unlock a File
The recipient uses their private key and passphrase to unlock the protected .aex file locally.
The platform can protect common file types including documents, PDFs, images, archives, and other files.
Built With Separation and Transparency in Mind

The application is distributed as a fixed set of files with published integrity information, allowing the deployed software to be independently compared against recorded release hashes.
The initial beta currently supports two ML-KEM profiles:
Standard: ML-KEM-768
High Assurance Cryptographic Profile: ML-KEM-1024
Both use AES-256-GCM for file-content protection.

During the beta period, Aexa recommends that participants use non-sensitive test files only and provide feedback on usability, workflow clarity, key management, and the overall encryption and decryption experience.
The beta is not currently represented as approved for classified information, National Security Systems, CUI, or other regulated workloads unless separately authorized and validated for the applicable environment.
